The impact of two wars in the previous Dutch East Indies are still being felt. The war with Japan was succeeded by the fight for the independence of Indonesia.
The past affects many of us in different ways, however what is binding us is our vision of a peaceful future based on collaboration, understanding and reconciliation.
In working towards the realization of this vision, we organize dialogue conferences for Dutch, Japanese and Indonesian citizens; for all, old and young, who want to get beyond commemoration and processing the past. This entails working towards peace through personal stories and personal meetings.
The theme for the 20st conference is focusing on the history, role and position of Indonesian women in the Dutch East Indies during the occupation by the Japanese during the second world war and the periods shortly before and after the war. Several speakers will address this from the Indonesian perspective. After lunch there is the opportunity to discuss the aspects that you consider relevant or interesting in small groups. The group leaders will have undergone training in this particular matter by experienced professionals.
You are cordially invited for the conference.
